We would like to welcome Melinda Prunty to Wellgreen Farm!
Melinda will be graduating Rockford College in May, 2010 with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry (Pre-Vet). She has been around horses her entire life and riding since she can remember. She has always been willing to do whatever it took to get lessons and learn what she could about horses. She started learning how to ride at a more advanced level when she was 11 years old when volunteering my time at Summer's Ranch in order to get free lessons. There, she began to memorize all the parts of a horse and was able to start jumping, riding bareback, and learning how to train. After working at Summer's Ranch, she continued learning about horses at Circle K Ranch. There, she mainly just cleaned out stalls, fed the horses, groomed the horses, and did some ground work when needed. While working at Circle K Ranch, she was also helping a friend and his horse trainer break in a horse. This was when she discovered her love for training and natural horsemanship. Natural horsemanship showed her more of how to understand the horses, and as she put it "allowed me to see horses giving their all for me when I would give my all for them." This past year I worked for Double L Outfitters which helped her gain more experience while working with a horse that were misunderstood. The horse she had been working with had been mistreated before and did not trust people. Melinda states, "He was my main inspiration in doing what I want to do today." "I was able to get him to go through mud when he would not even touch it, learn to take treats, and realize that he was loved in the matter of a few months." Double L Outfitters also gave me experience with how a business could be managed and how to work more with people learning to ride.
"Now I find myself getting ready to work at Wellgreen Farm which is a complete blessing!"
"I feel very welcomed and can not wait to meet you all and get started!"
